The Cisco SFP-10G-LR= is a hot-swappable SFP+ transceiver delivering 10 Gbps over single-mode fiber at 1310 nm. It connects through an LC duplex interface and reaches up to 10 km on standard G.652 fiber. The module fits Cisco Nexus 5000 and 7000 series switches for data-center, wiring-closet or service-provider links.

Replaces shorter-reach optics

Swapping a 10GBase-SR or LRM module for this LR version extends the link from hundreds of metres to 10 km without changing switch line cards. The jump is worth it when campus buildings, metro rings or campus-to-data-center runs exceed the reach of multimode or LRM optics and single-mode cable plant is already in place.

The transceiver maintains the full 10 Gbit/s line rate across the entire 10 km distance on G.652 single-mode fiber.
