Cle-Line C18457 Jobber Drill Bit

This 31/64 inch high-speed steel drill bit features a 135 degree split point for accurate starts and reduced wandering. The parabolic flute design improves chip evacuation during deep-hole drilling. Black and gold surface treatment adds wear resistance for heavy-duty applications.

Suited for metalworkers drilling precise holes

Machinists and fabricators working with steel, cast iron or other hard materials will benefit from the split-point geometry and parabolic flutes. Users needing coolant-through capability or a different point angle should select an alternative bit.

31/64 inch diameter with 135 degree split point

The fractional size and aggressive point angle determine whether this bit matches the required hole specification and material hardness. Verify the decimal equivalent of .4844 inch against your drawing before ordering.

Questions about this item

How much heat does the 135-degree split point generate during extended drilling?

The 135-degree split point reduces thrust and friction, lowering heat buildup during prolonged use on metal.

What shank size must my drill chuck accept for this 31/64-inch bit?

The jobber-length bit has a straight shank matching its 31/64-inch diameter, requiring a chuck capacity of at least 0.4844 inch.

Will the black-and-gold high-speed steel hold up in a vintage 1/2-inch drill press?

Yes, the heavy-duty HSS construction and split point work reliably in older 1/2-inch capacity drill presses.
