Jobber-length carbide drill bit

This Cleveland 1727 bit has a 17/64 inch diameter and a 118-degree four-facet point. The solid carbide construction handles abrasive materials and high-speed drilling. It is a bright uncoated tool supplied in new condition.

Check shank fit and coolant needs

The bit uses a straight round shank sized to its 17/64 inch diameter. Your drill chuck must accept that shank size. The tool has no coolant holes and is not coolant-through, so external lubrication or air blast is required.

Fits CNC and manual drilling setups

Mount the bit in a collet chuck or three-jaw chuck rated for carbide shanks. Rigid toolholding and stable workpiece clamping prevent carbide fracture. The four-facet point reduces walk and can eliminate a separate centre-drill step.

Questions about this item

What comes with the Cleveland 1727 17/64 in drill bit and what else is needed?

The box contains the solid carbide jobber-length bit itself. No coolant holes are present, so no through-coolant hardware is required.

How do I decide between the listed versions of the Cleveland 1727?

The supplier title shows a single specification: 17/64 in diameter, 118° four-facet point, uncoated carbide. No alternative sizes or coatings are offered.

What does the 118° point angle mean when the bit is in a drill press?

The 118° four-facet geometry centres the cut quickly in steel and cast iron without a pilot hole, and the bright carbide finish resists built-up edge.
