Cleveland M10x1.25 Hand Tap

The Cleveland C54617 is a straight-flute hand tap cut for metric M10 threads with a 1.25 mm pitch. It is made from high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish and a right-hand thread direction. Machinists and maintenance technicians use it to cut new internal threads or to chase damaged ones in through-holes and blind holes.

Sustained cutting behaviour

The straight-flute design moves chips forward in the direction of the cut, which keeps the flutes clear during continuous hand or low-speed machine tapping. High-speed steel retains hardness at the temperatures generated by repeated passes, so the cutting edges stay sharp across multiple holes. The taper lead eases entry and reduces the torque spike at the start of each thread.

Thread limit D5 and 6H fit

The tap is ground to a D5 thread limit and produces a 6H class of fit, which determines the allowance and tolerance of the finished internal thread. Select this tap when the drawing or specification calls for that exact limit; a different limit will yield a thread that is too tight or too loose for the intended fastener.
