Cuts M20×2.50 metric threads with a 50.8 mm thread length and 75 % drill size 17.50 mm
The Cleveland C54864 is a straight flute hand tap designed for creating internal threads in a metric M20 size with a 2.50 pitch. It is made from high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish and features a right-hand thread direction. The thread limit is D7 for a 6H class of fit.
As a hand tool, this tap generates no operational noise and draws no electrical power during use. Heat is produced only through friction at the cutting edges and is managed by the operator's speed and the application of cutting fluid. There are no thermal limits or cooling requirements beyond standard machining practice.
This tap replaces a previous M20x2.50 tool that has become dull, chipped or lost, restoring the ability to cut accurate 6H class threads. The jump is worth it when thread quality has degraded or when a D7 limit is specifically required for the fit. It is not for powered tapping heads or for thread sizes other than M20x2.50.

Drill the 17.50 mm hole to the full thread depth, then enter the taper lead of the tap squarely; the most common error is tilting the tap on the first turn, which cuts an oversized or crossed thread.
Replace it once the cutting edges dull enough to produce rough flanks or require excessive torque; no coating means wear appears sooner than on coated taps, so inspect threads after each batch of holes.
The 50.8 mm thread length is the maximum continuous depth the tap can cut; for deeper holes you must back the tap out repeatedly to clear chips or use a bottoming tap after the taper tap reaches this limit.
