Purpose and user

This Cleveland Golf C13121 drill accessory is a jobber length bit made from high speed steel for general-purpose drilling. It suits mechanics and fabricators who need a bright, uncoated split-point bit in a 1/2 inch fractional size with a .5000 decimal equivalent.

Build fit and clearance

The 135 degree split point centres the bit without a pilot hole, reducing walk on hard materials. Its jobber length provides standard reach for through-holes while the bright finish allows easy inspection of the cutting edges during use.

Thermals noise and power

High speed steel construction resists heat buildup during sustained drilling in steel or alloy workpieces. The uncoated surface avoids coating delamination under load, while the split point geometry lowers cutting forces and reduces motor strain on the driving tool.

Questions about this item

How does the 135-degree split point affect drilling in hard materials?

The 135-degree split point reduces walking and starts cutting immediately, which is useful when drilling hard metals with the high-speed steel bit.

Does the bright uncoated finish cause extra heat during long drilling sessions?

The bright finish lacks a heat-resistant coating, so friction builds faster; using cutting fluid and clearing chips often keeps temperatures manageable.

What chuck size is needed to hold the 0.5000-inch shank?

A 1/2-inch capacity chuck or larger is required to grip the 0.5000-inch shank securely.
