A metric two-piece clamping collar for securing shafts and components in power-transmission assemblies
The Climax Metal Products M2C-70-S is a metric two-piece clamping collar designed for shaft fixation in power transmission assemblies. It suits maintenance engineers and machinery builders who need a secure, split-hub mounting solution without dismantling adjacent components.
As a passive mechanical fastener, the collar generates no heat and draws no electrical power during operation. It adds no audible noise to the drivetrain and requires no active cooling or lubrication beyond standard shaft maintenance practices.
The two-piece design replaces solid collars where shaft removal is impractical, allowing installation or repositioning in situ. The step is worthwhile when downtime for disassembly outweighs the slight cost premium over one-piece alternatives. Buyers needing integrated bearing races or keyless locking assemblies should evaluate dedicated units instead.

Separate the two halves, position them around the shaft, insert both socket-head cap screws, then tighten them alternately in small increments to close the gap evenly; the common error is fully tightening one screw before starting the other, which leaves the collar cocked on the shaft.
Inspect the screw threads and the split faces periodically for fretting or corrosion; replace the collar if the bore shows measurable wear or if the screws can no longer achieve full clamping force.
The clamping force is limited by the holding power of the two cap screws; once the screw preload is overcome the collar will slip on the shaft before the metal itself yields.
