Cobra Carbide 54052 5xD Drill

The Cobra Carbide 54052 is a 5xD high-performance drill bit designed for non-coolant applications. It suits machinists and maintenance technicians who need a solid-carbide tool for drilling steel and other alloys without through-tool coolant delivery.

Non-Coolant Drilling Limit

Without internal coolant channels the bit relies on external flood or mist cooling to evacuate chips from deep holes. Chip packing becomes the practical limit in materials that produce long stringy swarf, so peck cycles or reduced feed rates are required beyond shallow depths.

6.25 mm Diameter Decides Fit

The 6.25 mm cutting diameter — decimal equivalent .2460 — is the single specification that determines whether this drill matches the hole size on your drawing. Verify the required tolerance and hole depth before ordering.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 6.25 mm size or the .2460 inch equivalent for my drilling task?

Both figures describe the same 6.25 mm diameter; use the metric value for metric work and the decimal inch value when your drawings are in inches.

What does the 5xD designation mean when I use this drill in a machine?

It indicates the flute length is designed for holes up to five times the 6.25 mm diameter in a single pass.

What shank interface does the 54052 use and what does it limit?

The drill has a standard straight shank that fits common drill chucks and collets, limiting use to holders that accept that shank style.
