12 mm Shank 5xD Drill

The Cobra Carbide 55847 is a 5xD high-performance drill with a 12 mm shank diameter designed for non-coolant operation. It targets machinists and maintenance teams who need reliable hole-making without through-tool coolant delivery.

Suited for dry machining setups

This drill suits workshops running dry or minimum-quantity lubrication processes where coolant-fed tooling cannot be used. Buyers who require through-coolant channels for deep-hole evacuation or high-pressure coolant systems should look at alternative tooling.

Consistent wear under sustained cuts

The non-coolant design relies on flute geometry to manage chips during extended drilling cycles. Under continuous load the carbide substrate maintains edge integrity while the 5xD length provides reach without the thermal shock risks associated with interrupted coolant flow.

Questions about this item

What shank diameter must my drill chuck accept for the 55847 drill?

The shank diameter is 12 mm so your chuck or collet must grip a 12 mm round shank.

Can I run this 5xD drill without through-coolant on my older CNC?

Yes, the drill is designed as non-coolant so it operates without internal coolant channels.

How do I verify the 11.30 mm cutting diameter is cutting correctly after setup?

Measure the first hole with a calibrated bore gauge; it should read 11.30 mm within tolerance.
