Fixed-mount 2D imager reads barcodes at 752 x 480 resolution with auto-focus liquid lens at 45 decodes per second and IP65 protection
The Cognex DMR-260Q-MAX is a fixed-mount barcode scanner built for automated production and logistics lines. It captures 752 x 480 resolution images using a 2D imager with a 6.2 mm liquid lens that auto-focuses on moving items. The unit reads codes at up to 45 decodes per second while running at 60 frames per second, suiting high-throughput traceability tasks.
An IP65-rated enclosure protects the optics and electronics from dust and low-pressure water jets common in factory environments. Four optoisolated discrete outputs provide noise-immune signalling to PLCs or controllers without ground-loop issues. Communications use a standard RS-232 link, keeping integration simple on legacy and modern control systems alike.
This scanner upgrades stations that still rely on handheld readers or slower fixed cameras, removing operator variability and raising line speed. The jump is worthwhile when throughput demands exceed 45 codes per second and the environment requires IP65 sealing. Operations staying below that decode rate or lacking RS-232 infrastructure may not see a return on the change.

Secure the fixed-mount housing, connect RS-232 and the four optoisolated outputs, then enable the auto-focus routine so the liquid lens calibrates working distance before the first 45 codes per second scan.
Keep the IP65-rated front window free of oil and dust; the liquid lens and imager have no user-serviceable components, so only external optical cleaning is required.
The decoder tops out at 45 codes per second even though the sensor runs at 60 fps, so sustained throughput is limited by the 45/s maximum decode rate.
