Fixed-mount barcode reader with 1280x960 CMOS sensor, 50-200mm sensing range, RS-232 and Ethernet via M12 connectors
The Cognex DMR-262QL-0120 is a DataMan 260 series fixed-mount barcode reader built for industrial identification tasks. It uses a 1/3" CMOS sensor with global shutter and two green aimers to capture 1280x960 pixel images. The unit operates on 24Vdc supply voltage and reads codes at a sensing distance of 50-200mm.
The single specification that decides suitability is the 1280x960 pixel resolution combined with the 50-200mm sensing range. This defines the smallest code element the reader can resolve at working distance. Buyers needing to read smaller codes or operate outside this range cannot meet their need with this model.
Installation uses a 12-pin M12 male connector for Ethernet communication and an 8-pin M12 female connector for 24Vdc power supply. The S-mount type provides mechanical mounting. Digital I/O includes one 12-28Vdc trigger input, one 8-24Vdc opto-coupled input, and four 28Vdc 50mA isolated outputs. Miswiring the supply voltage or exceeding the 50mA output rating are common issues.

The 1280x960 pixel CMOS sensor captures 1.2 megapixel images at the 50-200mm sensing distance, letting the reader decode 1D and 2D codes on fast-moving parts without manual focus adjustment.
RS-232 provides a single-point serial link while the 12-pin M12 Ethernet port carries industrial protocols to the PLC; the two interfaces operate independently so neither caps the other's bandwidth.
The reader uses an S-mount base and needs clearance for a 12-pin M12 male Ethernet connector plus an 8-pin M12 female power connector, both on the rear face.
