HDR Input Card for DM Switchers

The Crestron DMC-4KZ-C-DSP is a DigitalMedia 8G+ input card designed for DM switchers. It accepts DM 8G+ and HDBaseT sources with HDR10, Deep Color, 3D and 4K60 4:4:4 video. The card provides an HDMI output and simultaneous multichannel pass-through plus analog stereo downmix audio to the switcher backplane.

HDBaseT and HDMI interface limits

Video signals are limited to 4096x2160 DCI 4K and 3840x2160 4K UHD at 60 Hz with 4:4:4 chroma. HDCP 2.2 copy protection is enforced on all HDMI and HDBaseT paths. The HDBaseT input carries RS-232 control and Ethernet alongside video and audio, while the HDMI output remains a single Type A connector.

Audio capacity and downmix headroom

The card passes Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Atmos, DTS-HD Master Audio and DTS:X bitstreams untouched through the HDMI output. A 24-bit 48 kHz digital-to-analog conversion creates a two-channel downmix for analog stereo zones. Builders needing more than two analog output channels or additional HDMI inputs must add further cards.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the DM 8G+ or HDBaseT version of this input card?

This card handles both DM 8G+ and HDBaseT on the same port, so you do not choose between versions; it accepts either signal type with HDR10, Deep Color, 3D and 4K60 4:4:4 support.

What does the 4K60 4:4:4 rating mean when the card is installed in a switcher?

It means the card can pass 3840x2160 or 4096x2160 resolution at 60 Hz with full 4:4:4 chroma sampling, preserving HDR10, Deep Color and 3D without subsampling.

Which HDCP standard does the HDMI output enforce, and what does that cap in practice?

The HDMI output uses HDCP 2.2, which allows protected 4K60 4:4:4 content to pass while blocking unauthorised copying of that signal.
