Wired connectivity

The Cudy R700 is a new wired router with one gigabit WAN port and five gigabit LAN ports. It operates through a web-based interface and supports DHCP, Static IP, PPPoE, IPv4 and IPv6. The unit measures 119 mm and weighs 273 g.

Business gateway use

This router suits small offices that need VPN server or client functions with IPsec, L2TP, PPTP, OpenVPN, WireGuard and Zerotier pass-through. It also provides multi-WAN load balancing, firewall rules and access control lists. Buyers who need built-in Wi-Fi or wireless mesh should look elsewhere.

VPN protocol support

The decisive specification is the range of VPN protocols supported natively by the dashboard. It allows administrators to assign all or specific clients to a tunnel and to force traffic through the encrypted path. Without this feature the router cannot meet secure remote-access requirements.

Questions about this item

What comes in the box and do I need a separate wireless adapter?

The router includes the unit, a DC 12V 1A power supply and a reset button; no wireless adapter is included so you must add your own access points for Wi-Fi.

The spec shows 1 WAN and 5 LAN ports but the highlights mention 1 WAN, 3 WAN/LAN and 1 LAN — which layout is correct?

The hardware provides one dedicated GbE WAN port, three GbE ports configurable as WAN or LAN, and one dedicated GbE LAN port, giving up to four WAN connections for load balancing or failover.

Throughput is listed as < 1Gbps — what does that mean for a gigabit fibre line?

The router can route up to just under one gigabit per second, so a 1 Gbps fibre plan will run at near line speed but cannot exceed the rated throughput ceiling.
