PCIe Wi-Fi 6E adapter

The Cudy WE4000 installs in a PCI-Express slot to add tri-band wireless networking to a desktop PC. It supports the 6 GHz band alongside 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz for reduced congestion. The package includes detachable antennas, a magnetic base, a low-profile bracket and a Bluetooth header cable.

6 GHz band practical limits

The 6 GHz radio delivers up to 2402 Mbps link speed but requires a compatible router and client device. Range is shorter than lower bands and walls attenuate the signal more heavily. Regulatory limits on transmit power also cap real-world throughput below the nominal rate.

Tri-band capacity and headroom

Combined peak rates reach 5400 Mbps across the three bands with 2402 Mbps on each 5 GHz and 6 GHz channel plus 574 Mbps at 2.4 GHz. The card handles multiple simultaneous streams for gaming or 4K streaming. It runs out of headroom when the 6 GHz backhaul is absent or client devices lack Wi-Fi 6E support.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz or 6 GHz band for my Cudy WE4000 AX5400?

The card supports all three bands simultaneously; your router and client devices negotiate the best link, with 6 GHz delivering up to 2402 Mbps when both ends support Wi-Fi 6E.

What does the AX5400 label mean for real-world throughput on this card?

AX5400 sums the peak PHY rates — 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz plus 2402 Mbps on each of 5 GHz and 6 GHz — actual sustained throughput will be lower due to overhead, distance and interference.

Does the PCI-Express interface limit the 2402 Mbps 6 GHz speed in practice?

A single PCIe lane provides far more bandwidth than 2402 Mbps, so the slot does not cap the wireless link; the 6 GHz radio itself is the bottleneck.
