Product identity

The D-Link DGS-1510-28P is a 28-port Gigabit stackable smart PoE switch built for managed network environments. It provides 28 Gigabit Ethernet ports with Power over Ethernet on every port, plus two SFP and two 10GbE SFP+ expansion slots for uplinks.

Who it suits and who it does not

This switch fits sites that need PoE on all copper ports and 10G uplink flexibility in a managed, stackable platform. Buyers who do not require PoE, or who need more than 28 ports without stacking, should look at a different model.

Deciding specification

The key figure is 28 PoE-enabled Gigabit ports combined with two 10GbE SFP+ slots, which determines whether the switch can power every connected device and aggregate traffic at 10G speeds.

Questions about this item

How often will the 28 PoE ports need maintenance or replacement?

The 28 PoE ports are solid-state RJ-45 interfaces with no moving parts, so they do not require scheduled maintenance or replacement under normal operation.

Which limit appears first when the 28-port switch runs at full PoE load continuously?

The total PoE power budget of 45 W across all 28 ports is the first constraint reached under sustained full-load use.

What noise and heat levels should I expect from the 8.48 kg stackable switch running all day?

The 8.48 kg chassis uses internal fans that increase speed with temperature; expect audible airflow and warm exhaust when all 28 PoE ports and four SFP+ slots are active continuously.
