Unified Services Router for SMBs
The DSR-1000N is a unified services router built for small and medium businesses. It integrates high-speed IEEE 802.11n and 3G wireless technologies to deliver performance comparable to wired networks. A built-in 4-port switch connects wired devices directly. VPN tunnels, IPSec, PPTP, L2TP, and SSL secure the network perimeter.
Integrated wireless and switching
The integrated IEEE 802.11n wireless removes the need for a separate access point in many deployments. 3G support provides a backup or primary WAN link where fixed lines are unavailable. The four-port switch reduces cabling and hardware count on the desk or in the rack. SSL VPN tunnels enable clientless remote access for mobile staff.
Rack or desktop deployment
The unit fits standard rack mounts or sits on a desktop for flexible placement. Web-based management simplifies initial configuration and ongoing monitoring. A common issue is forgetting to enable the 3G failover profile before the primary link drops. Another is leaving default VPN user policies unchanged after the first setup.

Questions about this item
How often will the integrated 4-port switch need maintenance or replacement?
The 4-port switch is built into the DSR-1000N chassis and has no user-serviceable parts; under normal office use it runs for years without intervention.
What limit appears first when the 802.11n wireless runs at full load all day?
The wireless radio hits its 802.11n throughput ceiling before the wired ports or VPN engine become bottlenecks.
How much heat and fan noise does the DSR-1000N produce during continuous operation?
The passively cooled metal enclosure stays warm to the touch but silent, drawing only the power needed for the integrated switch and wireless radios.
