Professional Mechanical Keyboard for Typists

The Das Keyboard 4 Professional uses Cherry MX Blue switches with gold contacts to deliver a distinct click and tactile feedback on every keystroke. It is built for professionals who want a durable, standard-layout keyboard with dedicated media controls and a built-in USB hub. The anodized aluminum top panel adds rigidity for daily use.

USB Interface and Hub Limits

The keyboard connects through a single USB 1.1, 2.0 or 3.0 port and requires no driver installation. Its integrated 2-port USB 3.0 hub runs at up to 5 Gb/s, so transfer speed depends on the host port and the connected devices. N-key rollover functions over USB without a PS/2 adapter.

Clicky MX Blue Switch Character

Cherry MX Blue switches produce an audible click and a noticeable tactile bump that typists often prefer but open-plan offices or shared spaces may find disruptive. Buyers who need a quieter keystroke for recording, late-night work or noise-sensitive environments should consider a different switch type.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the MX Blue version or a different switch type for this model?

This model uses Cherry MX Blue switches with gold contacts that produce a distinct click and tactile feedback; other switch types are not offered for this MPN.

What does the 5 Gb/s USB 3.0 hub mean for file transfers in daily use?

The built-in two-port hub runs at up to 5 Gb/s, so high-resolution photos and videos move between USB devices roughly ten times faster than over USB 2.0.

Does the USB interface require a specific port version to work?

It works with any USB 1.1, 2.0 or 3.0 port and needs no driver; the hub simply runs at the speed of the port you plug it into.
