Das Keyboard 4 Ultimate Mechanical Keyboard

The Das Keyboard 4 Ultimate is a wired mechanical keyboard built around Cherry MX Blue switches. It targets typists and developers who want audible click feedback and a blank keycap layout for touch-typing practice. The anodized aluminium top panel adds rigidity for heavy daily use.

Installation is a single USB connection

Plug the keyboard into any USB 1.1, 2.0 or 3.0 port on Windows, Linux, ChromeOS or Mac and it works immediately. The 6.5-foot cable reaches most desk setups without strain. The magnetic footbar snaps on for a fixed 4-degree angle; there are no flip-out feet to adjust or break.

Cherry MX Blue clicky switches decide the fit

The switches deliver a tactile bump and loud click at every keystroke, which suits pure typing but can disturb shared offices or late-night gaming. Buyers who need silent operation or linear feel should choose a different switch type. The 104-key US layout lacks dedicated macro keys.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the Cherry MX Blue switches are registering every keystroke after I plug the keyboard in?

The keyboard supports N-key rollover over USB, so every key press is detected simultaneously without a PS/2 adapter; test by holding multiple keys at once in any text editor.

Does the box include the magnetic footbar and the 6.5-foot cable, or must I buy them separately?

The magnetic footbar that doubles as a ruler and the extra-long 6.5-foot cable are both attached to the keyboard in the box; no separate purchase is needed.

Should I choose the MX Blue version if I want audible click feedback and gold-plated contacts rated for 50 million keystrokes?

Yes, this model uses Cherry MX Blue switches with gold contacts rated for 50 million keystrokes, providing distinct click and tactile feedback on every press.
