Professional mechanical keyboard

The Das Keyboard Model S is a wired mechanical keyboard built around Cherry MX Blue clicky switches with gold-plated contacts. It connects through a single USB 2.0 port and includes a built-in two-port USB 2.0 hub for peripherals. The 104-key layout uses laser-etched black keycaps rated for 50 million keystrokes and offers dedicated media controls for volume, playback and mute. It works with Windows, Linux and Mac OS X.

Suited for typists who want audible feedback

Writers, programmers and enthusiasts who prefer a distinct click and tactile bump on every press will appreciate the MX Blue switch characteristics. The keyboard requires a free USB port on the host and a second port only if the integrated hub is used. Users who need silent operation for shared offices or noise-sensitive environments should consider a different switch type, as the click is intrinsic to this model.

Cherry MX Blue clicky switches

The defining specification is the Cherry MX Blue switch, which delivers both a tactile bump and an audible click at the actuation point. Gold-plated contacts ensure reliable signal transmission over the rated 50 million keystroke lifespan. This switch choice determines the sound profile, actuation feel and overall typing experience, making it the single factor that confirms whether the keyboard matches the buyer's preference.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the keyboard is working correctly after plugging it in?

Press any key and verify the keystroke registers on screen; the Cherry MX Blue switches provide a distinct tactile bump and audible click, and the Caps Lock LED will illuminate when active.

What accessories come in the box and what must I purchase separately?

The package includes the Das Keyboard Model S with 104 laser-etched keycaps, integrated 2-port USB 2.0 hub, and gold-plated Cherry MX Blue switches; no mouse or extra cables are included.

Which switch version should I choose for a clicky feel versus a quieter tactile feel?

Select the Cherry MX Blue version for pronounced click and tactile feedback, or the Cherry MX Brown version for soft tactile response without the audible click; both are rated for up to 50 million keystrokes.
