Dasco 1/4 Inch Cold Chisel

This Dasco cold chisel is a hand tool made from heat-treated domestic steel with a black enamel finish. It measures 4-7/8 inches in overall length and has a 1/4 inch wide tip. The target head is three times larger than the stock size to prevent mushrooming during heavy striking.

Who should buy this chisel

Mechanics and metalworkers who need a durable chisel for cutting, shaping or removing cold metal will find the hardened steel construction reliable. It is not suited for woodworking, masonry or precision carving tasks that require specialised blade profiles or different striking surfaces.

Critical specification: tip width and length

The 1/4 inch tip width and 4-7/8 inch length determine whether this chisel fits the workpiece and reaches the required depth. Verify these dimensions match the slot, rivet or material you intend to cut before purchase.

Questions about this item

Does the 0.075 lb cold chisel transmit harsh vibration during all-day use?

The target head is three times larger than the stock, which reduces spalling and mushrooming and dampens vibration during extended driving.

What striking tool is required to drive the 1/4 in. tip?

A standard hammer or maul with a face large enough to cover the enlarged target head is needed.

Will the black enamel finish resist marking when used against older, softer metal stock?

The heat-treated domestic steel and enamel finish are designed to resist deformation and marking on softer materials.
