Coiled 6 ft RS-232 cable with DB-9 female connector for POS peripherals
This Datalogic CAB-408 coiled cable connects RS-232 point-of-sale devices using a DB-9 female connector. The six-foot length suits countertop scanners, printers or terminals that sit close to the host system. It is built for retail, hospitality and light-industrial checkout stations that rely on serial communication.
The coiled construction absorbs frequent stretching and retraction at a busy register without stressing the connector or the host port. Signal continuity is maintained over the full extension because the cable is purpose-made for RS-232 with power on pin 9. No active electronics are inside, so reliability depends only on the copper conductors and the strain relief.
The DB-9 female end mates directly with standard serial ports and locks down with integrated thumbscrews. No drivers or configuration are required; the link works as soon as both ends are seated. The only common issue is attempting to plug the cable into a port that does not supply power on pin 9, which the connected peripheral may require.

The CAB-408 is a passive serial cable; it draws no power of its own and generates no measurable heat during continuous use.
The cable is designed for Datalogic devices that expose a standard 9-pin RS-232 port; check your scanner or terminal spec sheet for a DB-9 male connector.
No — the cable provides a straight DB-9 female to DB-9 male link; a separate USB-to-serial adapter is required for USB-only hosts.
