This Dayton cable is a 100-foot length of 1/8 inch diameter 7x7 galvanized steel wire rope with a vinyl coating in orange. It is supplied new and rated for lifting applications with a working load limit of 340 lb. The plain ends and unlubricated finish make it ready for custom termination in rigging, pulling or conveying tasks.

Installation and common issues

The cable arrives on a reel and can be cut to length with appropriate wire-rope cutters before swaging or clamping the plain ends. Because it is unlubricated, the strands may bind during sharp bends; a thimble or sheave reduces wear at termination points. The vinyl coating can crack if bent below the minimum radius, so avoid tight loops and store the coil flat to prevent kinking.

Capacity and headroom

The 7x7 construction delivers a breaking strength of 1,700 lbf, giving a 5:1 design factor at the 340 lb working load limit for static lifts. It handles moderate tension in winching, guy-wire or barrier roles without permanent stretch. Dynamic shock loads, sustained vibration or repeated cycling will reduce the safe working window, so derate accordingly for those conditions.
