Dayton 12T033 Engraver Overview

The Dayton 12T033 is a cordless engraver designed for detail work on ceramic, leather, metal, plastic and wood. It suits hobbyists, crafters and technicians who need a lightweight tool for marking or personalising small workpieces without a power cord.

Build and Everyday Use

Weighing only 0.1 lb and measuring 6 in long, the engraver fits comfortably in one hand for extended sessions. The fixed-speed motor runs at 3300 strokes per minute, while the 1/16 in collet holds the included diamond tip securely; a hex wrench is supplied for quick tip changes.

Deciding Specification

The tool operates on two AAA batteries, which are included, so it is ready to use immediately but limited to battery capacity for runtime. Buyers who need continuous high-volume engraving or adjustable speed control should consider a mains-powered alternative.

Questions about this item

What collet size does the engraver accept and what shank diameter does that limit me to?

The collet is 1/16 in, so only bits with a 1/16 in shank will fit securely.

How long is the tool and what is its weight?

The engraver measures 6 in long and weighs 0.1 lb, making it compact and light for handheld use.

How do I install the diamond tip and which step is often missed?

Loosen the collet with the included hex wrench, insert the diamond tip fully, then tighten firmly; the step often missed is seating the tip all the way in before tightening.
