Closed-loop timing belt with 175 teeth, 14 mm pitch and 85 mm width for general industrial power transmission
The Dayton 1LWE8 is a closed-loop HTD timing belt designed for general industrial power transmission. It uses a neoprene body with a nylon tooth coating and fiberglass reinforcing cords. The belt has 175 teeth on one side and a top width of 85 mm. It arrives in new condition ready for installation.
The belt operates reliably between -22 degrees F and 194 degrees F. The curvilinear tooth profile engages pulleys smoothly to reduce vibration and noise during normal operation. Neoprene construction resists oil and wear while the fiberglass cords maintain length stability under load. No lubrication is required for the belt itself.
This belt directly replaces an existing HTD belt with a 14 mm pitch and 2450 mm pitch length. The upgrade is worth it when the current belt shows tooth shear, cracking or excessive stretch that affects timing accuracy. It is not for drives that require a different pitch, width or double-sided tooth engagement. Buyers needing a non-standard length or a different tooth profile should look elsewhere.

Loop the belt over matching 14 mm pitch pulleys so the 175 teeth seat fully in the grooves; the step most people miss is verifying that both shafts are parallel and the belt tracks centrally to prevent the 85 mm wide body from riding the flange.
Inspect the nylon tooth coating for wear and the fiberglass cords for fraying; replace the belt if cracks appear on the back or teeth shear off, as the closed-loop construction cannot be repaired or re-tensioned.
The 194 °F maximum operating temperature is typically the first limit; sustained heat beyond that degrades the neoprene and reduces the fiberglass reinforcement strength, leading to premature tooth jump or cord failure.
