12 Inch Round Balancing Damper

The Dayton 2TFY1 is a manual single-blade balancing damper built for 12 inch round ductwork. Its steel frame uses 16 gauge thickness and measures 6 3/8 inches deep. The damper handles air velocities up to 2000 fpm in balancing applications.

Replaces fixed grilles or uncontrolled openings

Install this damper when airflow must be set and locked at a specific volume rather than left wide open. The manual blade allows precise adjustment during system commissioning and stays in position without power or actuators.

Suits HVAC installers balancing round duct branches

Contractors needing a durable steel damper for 12 inch round ducts will find the frame depth and velocity rating appropriate. Builders requiring motorised control, rectangular flange connections or higher pressure ratings should look at other damper types.

Questions about this item

What rough opening diameter does the 12 in round damper require?

The damper fits a 12 in round rough opening, matching the nominal duct diameter exactly.

How do you install the manual single-blade damper in the duct run?

Insert the 6 3/8 in deep frame into the 12 in round duct and secure the flanges; the common error is forgetting to lock the quadrant handle after setting the blade angle.

When should the steel frame or blade be inspected or replaced?

Inspect the 16 ga steel frame and blade annually for corrosion or warping, especially if airflow regularly approaches the 2000 fpm maximum velocity rating.
