Stainless-Steel Cable 3/64 in 250 ft
This Dayton cable is a 250-foot length of 3/64 inch diameter wire rope made from 304 stainless steel. It uses a 7x7 strand construction with an independent wire-rope core and carries a vinyl coating. The working load limit is 54 lb and the breaking strength is 270 lbf. It is supplied new on a plain reel with no end fittings.
Vinyl Coating and Plain Ends
The vinyl coating protects the 304 stainless steel from surface abrasion and makes handling cleaner. Because the ends are plain, the installer must terminate the cable with appropriate sleeves, clips or swaged fittings rated for the 54 lb working load limit. The unlubricated construction means no factory oil residue is present. California Proposition 65 warnings apply to this product.
Suited for Light Lifting and Rigging
This cable suits light-duty lifting, pull-through conduit work, safety tethers and marine tie-downs where corrosion resistance matters. It is not for buyers who need a higher working load limit, a larger diameter for winch drums, pre-swaged end terminations or a lubricated core for repeated cycling over sheaves.

Questions about this item
How often should the 304 stainless steel cable be inspected for wear when used at its 54 lb working load limit?
Inspect the cable before each use and replace it if you see broken wires, kinks, corrosion or any reduction in the 1/16 in overall diameter.
What is the first limit reached during sustained loading of this 7x7 construction cable?
The 54 lb working load limit is reached first; the 270 lbf breaking strength provides a 5:1 safety factor above that limit.
Does the vinyl-coated 3/64 in cable generate noticeable heat or noise when run continuously over pulleys all day?
The unlubricated vinyl coating runs quietly and produces negligible heat under normal manual or low-speed mechanical operation.
