Air-powered agitator mixes 55-gallon drums with a 32-inch 316 stainless shaft, three-blade propeller at 17-degree pitch, 1/2 HP motor and 1/4 NPT inlet
This Dayton agitator air mixer is built for stirring contents inside standard 55 gallon drums. It mounts on top and runs on compressed air through a 1/4 NPT female inlet. The unit delivers up to one-half horsepower and reaches 2,000 RPM maximum mixing speed for consistent blending.
The air-driven design avoids electrical hazards and keeps operating temperatures low during extended mixing cycles. A 32 inch shaft made from 316 stainless steel resists corrosion across all compatible viscosity levels. Three fixed blades with a five inch diameter and 17 degree pitch move material efficiently while noise remains typical for pneumatic agitators.
This mixer upgrades from hand agitation or smaller shaft units that cannot reach the bottom of a full drum. The jump is worth it when batch consistency matters and compressed air is already available at the workstation. Buyers who need electric drive or variable speed control should look elsewhere.

Lower the 316 stainless shaft through the bung, then secure the 1/4 in female NPT air inlet before pressurising; the step often missed is tightening the air connection fully so no leak develops at 2,000 RPM.
Lubricate the air motor per the manufacturer schedule, inspect the three 5 in blades for wear, and check the 1/2 in shaft for corrosion or bending after extended mixing cycles.
The 1/2 HP air motor reaches its maximum horsepower ceiling first, so sustained operation at 2,000 RPM is constrained by available compressed-air flow and motor thermal limits.
