1/2 HP Submersible Sump Pump
The Dayton 3BB74 is a cast iron submersible sump pump rated at 1/2 horsepower for 120V AC, 60 Hz operation. It draws 9.8 amps and features a 1-1/2 inch FNPT discharge. The unit ships without a switch, requiring separate level control. Its carbon ceramic shaft seal and cast iron impeller suit residential water removal.
Flow rates at 5 to 20 ft head
At 5 ft of head the pump delivers 80 gpm, falling to 70 gpm at 10 ft and 62 gpm at 15 ft. At 20 ft of head the flow is 50 gpm, with a maximum shut-off head of 32 ft. Performance declines steadily as lift increases, so high-head installations will see reduced output. The pump cannot maintain flow beyond the 32 ft limit.
Cast iron body with 8-1/2 in diameter
The 8-1/2 in body diameter and 12-1/4 in overall height fit standard sump basins. A 1-1/2 in FNPT discharge connects to common PVC or steel piping. No float or pressure switch is included, so the installer must supply level control and wiring. The design frees the user to choose automatic or manual operation.

Questions about this item
Will this 1/2 HP pump connect to my existing 1-1/2 inch discharge pipe?
Yes, the discharge is 1-1/2 inch FNPT, so it threads directly onto standard 1-1/2 inch pipe fittings.
How can I verify the pump is delivering the rated flow after installation?
Measure the discharge head and compare the flow: 80 gpm at 5 ft, 70 gpm at 10 ft, 62 gpm at 15 ft, and 50 gpm at 20 ft of head.
Does the box include a float switch or do I need to buy one separately?
No switch is included; the specifications list Switch Actuation and Switch Electrical Connection as None, so a separate switch must be purchased.
