A machined washer arbor for mounting buffing and finishing wheels on electric motors with a 5/8 inch shaft
The Dayton 3ZN14 AL-5 arbor mounts buffing and finishing wheels onto electric motors with a 5/8 inch shaft diameter. It suits smaller fractional horsepower motors and rotates clockwise. The overall length measures 3 1/2 inches with a thread length of 1 13/16 inches.
A hex nut and machined washers are supplied with the arbor so the wheel can be secured immediately. The washers have a 1 1/2 inch outside diameter and the assembly accepts a maximum wheel width of 1 1/4 inches. A socket setscrew locks the arbor to the motor shaft.
This arbor fits only shafts of 5/8 inch diameter with a 1/2 inch -20 LH thread, so it will not work on larger motor shafts or different thread patterns. Buyers needing a different shaft size, thread direction or wheel capacity should look at other arbors.

The machined washers are metal components designed for the life of the arbor; replace them only if they show visible wear, cracking or deformation during routine inspection.
The 1 1/4 in maximum wheel width sets the mechanical limit; exceeding it prevents the hex nut from engaging enough thread to clamp the wheel securely.
The arbor itself generates negligible heat; any temperature rise comes from the motor and wheel friction, not from the steel shaft, nut or washers.
