Quarter-Horsepower Submersible Sump Pump
The Dayton 4HU67 is a 1/4 HP submersible sump pump designed for residential basements and crawl spaces where ground water accumulates. It operates on standard 120V AC household current at 60 Hz and draws 3.1 amps during operation. A tethered float switch with piggyback plug provides automatic on and off control without separate wiring. The cast iron body and impeller resist corrosion in wet environments.
Upgrade from Manual or Lower-Capacity Units
This pump replaces manual bailing or undersized pumps that cannot keep pace during heavy rain events. It delivers 42 gallons per minute at 5 feet of head and maintains 33 gpm at 10 feet of head. At 15 feet of head the flow is 22 gpm, dropping to 6 gpm at 20 feet of head. The maximum shut-off head is 21 feet. The performance jump is worth it when the existing system cannot clear water fast enough to prevent flooding.
Fits Standard Pits with Cast Iron Durability
The unit requires a minimum sump pit diameter of 12 inches and has a body diameter of 9 1/8 inches, allowing it to sit in most code-compliant basins. The carbon ceramic shaft seal reduces wear from abrasive particles in the water. A 1-1/2 inch female discharge outlet connects to common PVC or hose fittings. The piggyback plug lets the pump share a single receptacle with the float switch, freeing the second outlet for other equipment.

Questions about this item
What diameter sump pit does the 9 1/8 in. body require?
The pump needs a minimum pit diameter of 12 in. to fit and operate correctly.
How is the tether float switch wired to the 120V AC supply?
The piggyback plug inserts into the outlet first, then the pump cord plugs into the back of that plug so the float controls power.
When should the carbon-ceramic shaft seal be inspected or replaced?
Inspect the seal if flow drops below the rated 42 gpm at 5 ft. head or if water leaks around the motor housing.
