Dayton 4UX61 Pedestal Fan Motor
The Dayton 4UX61 is a single-phase permanent split capacitor motor rated at 1/4 hp for pedestal fan and HVAC control applications. It operates on 115V AC at 60 Hz and draws 3.1 A at full load, making it suitable for standard North American residential or light commercial wiring. The 48YZ frame and horizontal mounting position fit common pedestal fan housings.
Capacity headroom 1/4 hp continuous duty
With a 1.0 service factor and continuous duty cycle the motor delivers its full 1/4 hp without overload headroom, so it handles steady fan loads but cannot absorb sustained peaks above nameplate. Auto thermal protection and Class B insulation guard against overheating up to a 40 °C ambient limit, after which protection will trip and stop the motor.
Build quality totally enclosed air-over
The totally enclosed air-over enclosure relies on the fan’s own airflow for cooling, so the motor must remain in the airstream during operation. A 1/2 in diameter shaft extending 3 in with clockwise rotation viewed from the shaft end mates directly to typical pedestal fan blades. Horizontal mounting and the 48YZ frame bolt pattern simplify replacement in compatible units.

Questions about this item
Will this 1/4 hp motor fit my existing 48YZ frame mounting?
Yes, the motor uses a 48YZ frame and horizontal mounting, matching that bolt pattern directly.
How can I verify the motor is running correctly after installation?
Check that the shaft turns clockwise from the shaft end at the nameplate 1,075 RPM and draws about 3.1 A at full load.
What comes with the motor and what must I source separately?
The motor itself is supplied; you will need to provide a compatible capacitor, mounting hardware, and wiring for the 115 V AC supply.
