  • Product typeClosed Base
  • 2 HP motor drives demanding fan applications
  • 3450 rpm nameplate speed delivers high airflow
  • Totally enclosed fan-cooled design protects internal components
  • Dual-voltage 115/208-230 V AC fits common supplies
  • Auto thermal protection prevents overheating damage

Motor specification and fit

This Dayton 5UKG3 general-purpose motor delivers 2 hp at 3450 rpm in a 56H frame. It suits equipment that requires a capacitor-start/run single-phase design with rigid-base mounting.

Build quality and mounting

The closed-base, totally enclosed fan-cooled housing uses stainless-steel construction for durability. Rigid-base mounting keeps the motor fixed in place, while the shaft rotates either clockwise or counter-clockwise to match the driven load.

Thermals noise and power

Automatic thermal protection and Class B insulation guard against overheating up to a 40 °C ambient limit. Continuous duty is rated at a 1.15 service factor, drawing 19.5 A at 115 V or 10.8 to 9.7 A at 208-230 V.

Questions about this item

What voltage does the 2 HP 3450 rpm 56H motor run on?

The motor operates on 115/208-230V AC at 60 Hz, drawing 19.5 amps at 115V and 10.8 to 9.7 amps at 208-230V.

What frame and mounting does the 56H closed-base motor require?

It uses a 56H frame with rigid-base mounting, so the shaft height and bolt pattern follow the NEMA 56H standard.

How is the single-phase capacitor-start motor wired for rotation?

The motor supports CW/CCW rotation; swap the start-winding leads inside the junction box to reverse direction.
