Adjustable time-delay relay with DPDT contacts rated 10 A at 240 V AC and 8 A at 28 V DC, configurable from 0.05 s to 30 min
The Dayton 5WMK0 is a plug-in time delay relay designed for 120 V AC or DC control circuits. It provides a single true off-delay function with an adjustable range from 0.05 seconds up to 30 minutes via a built-in potentiometer. The DPDT contacts switch up to 10 A at 240 V AC or 8 A at 28 V DC. An octal 8-pin socket connection makes installation straightforward for panel builders and maintenance technicians.
The enclosed IP20 housing dissipates heat from the coil and contacts during normal operation without forced airflow. Coil power consumption at the rated 120 V input remains low, so the relay runs cool in typical cabinet environments. Contact resistance stays stable at the rated 10 A AC load, keeping temperature rise within the limits implied by the IP20 enclosure rating.
With the potentiometer set to the maximum 30-minute delay, the relay holds its contact state reliably for the full interval before releasing. The true off-delay action means timing begins only when control voltage is removed, so repeated cycling does not accumulate timing error. DPDT contacts rated for 10 A AC and 8 A DC maintain consistent switching performance over extended duty cycles without contact welding or excessive bounce.

Plug the 8-pin octal base into a compatible socket; the step often missed is verifying the socket is rated for 120 V AC/DC and 10 A before inserting the relay.
The enclosed IP20 unit has no user-serviceable parts; replace the entire relay when the DPDT contacts no longer switch 10 A at 240 V AC or 8 A at 28 V DC reliably.
The contact rating of 10 A at 240 V AC or 8 A at 28 V DC is the first limit; exceeding it will cause contact wear or overheating before the 30-minute maximum delay setting is reached.
