Thermal overload relay protects motors from 0.10 to 0.16 A with 1NO/1NC auxiliary contacts and auto or manual reset
The Dayton 6ECA3 is a thermal overload relay designed for industrial motor protection. It offers a current setting range of 0.10 A to 0.16 A with a Trip Class 10 response. The unit features 1NO/1NC auxiliary contacts for control circuit integration. It mounts directly to a contactor for a compact installation.
Before ordering, confirm that your contactor supports direct mounting for this IEC-style relay. The motor full-load current must fall within the 0.10 A to 0.16 A adjustment range. Ensure the control circuit can utilise the 1NO/1NC auxiliary contact configuration. Check that the Trip Class 10 timing suits your motor starting profile.
The relay mounts directly onto a compatible contactor, eliminating the need for a separate DIN rail mount. This reduces overall assembly depth to 3.62 in and width to 1.73 in. The 1NO/1NC auxiliary contacts provide both trip signalling and control interlock functions. Auto and manual reset options allow flexible restart procedures after a thermal trip event.

The relay body includes the 1NO/1NC auxiliary contacts and mounts directly to a contactor; a compatible IEC contactor is not included and must be bought separately.
Set the dial within the 0.10–0.16 A range to match the motor full-load current; Trip Class 10 defines the tripping time curve for that setting.
It is the upper limit of the thermal overload protection range; the relay will trip on sustained currents above this value to protect the motor windings.
