Overload relay with 28 A minimum and 36 A maximum current settings, Trip Class 10 and IEC 60947-4-1 compliance
The Dayton 6ECC8 is a three-pole IEC-style thermal overload relay designed for motor protection in industrial control panels. It suits maintenance engineers and panel builders who need adjustable overload protection with both automatic and manual reset options. Buyers requiring electronic trip units, communication modules or NEMA-rated starters should select a different relay family.
Verify that the contactor you intend to mount this relay on accepts direct IEC-style mounting and that the motor full-load current falls between 28 A and 36 A. Confirm the control circuit can accommodate the 1NO/1NC auxiliary contact arrangement and that the enclosure provides at least 3.62 in depth, 2.12 in width and 3 in overall height for the relay body. Ensure the supply voltage and trip class 10 characteristics match the application requirements.
The thermal trip mechanism operates at Trip Class 10, so sustained overcurrents above the 36 A maximum setting will cause the relay to open within the standard Class 10 time curve. In normal operation the relay runs passively with no fan, producing negligible acoustic noise and minimal additional heat beyond the contactor's own dissipation. Power draw is limited to the control circuit holding the auxiliary contacts.

The unit is designed for direct mounting to a contactor; mounting hardware and the contactor itself are not included and must be sourced separately.
Select the setting that matches your motor's full-load current; the relay adjusts continuously between 28 A and 36 A so you set it to the exact amperage the motor draws.
Trip Class 10 means the relay will open within 10 seconds when the current reaches a defined multiple of the set point, giving standard thermal overload response for typical motor starts.
