SKU CH-CF8H-XPSBQ

General-purpose motor delivering 5 HP at 1740 rpm in an 184T open dripproof frame with capacitor-start/run design and 84.2 % nominal efficiency

  • Product typeClosed Base
  • 5 HP general-purpose motor drives demanding industrial machinery
  • 1740 rpm speed delivers consistent torque for pneumatic tools and compressors
  • 2 % nominal efficiency reduces energy consumption during continuous operation
  • Open dripproof enclosure protects internal components from dust and moisture
  • 184T frame ensures compatibility with standard compressor and air-tank mounts

General Purpose Motor Application

The Dayton 6K854 is a general purpose motor built to drive a wide range of industrial machinery and equipment. It suits power transmission and pneumatics tasks across multiple sectors. The design targets efficient energy use while delivering torque for demanding operations.

Open Dripproof Enclosure Constraints

The open dripproof enclosure shields internal parts from falling dust and moisture. It does not seal against splashes, jets or submersion. Installations in wet, dirty or outdoor locations need additional shelter or a different enclosure type.

5 HP Output and 84.2 % Efficiency Headroom

At 5 horsepower and 1740 rpm the motor handles typical compressor, air tank and pneumatic tool loads. The 84.2 % nominal efficiency keeps running costs lower during continuous duty. Applications needing higher torque, speed or sealed protection will exceed this unit's capacity.

Questions about this item

Which voltage wiring should I choose for the 5 HP 1740 rpm motor?

The motor accepts 115 V or 230/277 V single-phase supplies; select the connection matching your mains voltage and follow the nameplate diagram.

What does the 84.2 % efficiency figure mean for daily operation?

It means 84.2 % of electrical input becomes mechanical output, so less energy is wasted as heat during continuous running.

How does the open dripproof enclosure affect where I can install the 184T frame motor?

The open dripproof design allows airflow for cooling but only suits indoor, dry locations where falling water or heavy dust are absent.
