A 1/2-20 RH shaft arbor that fits a 5/8 in shaft and mounts buffing or finishing wheels on electric motors, including a hex nut and machined washers
This Dayton 6L105 shaft arbor fits a 5/8 inch shaft and mounts buffing or finishing wheels on electric motors. It uses a 1/2-20 RH thread with a socket setscrew and includes a hex nut and machined washers for secure attachment.
The 1 13/16 inch thread length and 1 1/2 inch washer outside diameter provide stable mounting for wheels up to 1 1/4 inch wide. Counter-clockwise shaft rotation matches standard motor output for consistent finishing work.
This standard arbor replaces damaged or lost shafts on compatible Dayton keyless chucks. The jump is worth it when the original arbor threads are stripped or the setscrew no longer holds the wheel true.

Slide the arbor onto the shaft, position the machined washers on each side of the wheel, thread the 1/2-20 RH hex nut, then tighten the socket setscrew against the shaft flat; skipping the setscrew lets the arbor spin loose.
Inspect the socket setscrew and 1/2-20 RH thread for wear or rounding; replace the hex nut, machined washers, or the entire arbor if the setscrew no longer locks securely.
The 1 1/4 in maximum wheel width is the first constraint; exceeding it prevents proper washer clamping and risks wheel slippage during sustained operation.
