Washdown Motor for Food and Pharma Lines
The Dayton 6WY42 is a three-phase washdown motor built for equipment that must survive regular high-pressure cleaning. Its totally enclosed fan-cooled housing and 56HC frame fit standard mounting patterns on conveyors, pumps and packaging machines in food, beverage and pharmaceutical plants.
Continuous Duty at 1.15 Service Factor
Rated for continuous operation at 1,750 RPM with a 1.15 service factor, the motor delivers 1-1/2 hp without relying on short-term overload capacity. Class F insulation and a 40 °C maximum ambient temperature support sustained output, while the absence of thermal protection means external overload devices must be provided by the installer.
Replaces Standard 56-Frame Motors in Wet Zones
The 230/460 V dual-voltage design (also usable at 208 V) lets maintenance teams swap out older 56-frame units without rewiring starters. The upgrade is justified when the application moves from a dry environment to one requiring frequent washdowns, or when a higher service factor is needed for reliable continuous running.

Questions about this item
How much heat and current does the 1-1/2 hp motor draw when running continuously at 230 VAC?
At 230 VAC the motor draws 4.0 A full-load current with a 1.15 service factor and Class F insulation rated for 40 °C ambient, so heat rise is within NEMA Design B limits for continuous duty.
What supply voltage and phase must already be on site for the 230/460 VAC three-phase motor to operate?
A three-phase supply of either 230 VAC or 460 VAC at 60 Hz (also usable at 208 VAC) is required; the motor is not usable at 200 VAC.
Will the 56HC frame and keyed shaft fit the existing C-face pump mount we currently use?
The 56HC frame provides a standard NEMA C-face with keyed shaft, matching common 56C pump mounts for direct coupling.
