1/2 HP motor drives pedestal fans at two speeds, 100 and 850 RPM, on 115 V AC
The Dayton Pedestal Fan Motor is a 1/2 HP single-phase unit built for spot cooling and people cooling in commercial or outdoor settings. It suits facilities managers and maintenance teams who need reliable air movement for traffic areas or parking lots. The motor fits 48YZ frame mounts and runs on standard 115V AC power. Its totally enclosed air-over enclosure protects internal components in dusty or damp environments.
This motor replaces worn or failed direct-drive fan motors in existing pedestal assemblies where the frame and shaft dimensions match. The jump is worth it when the original unit lacks dual-speed flexibility or has lost thermal protection. Two-speed operation at 100 and 850 RPM lets operators match airflow to occupancy without rewiring. Continuous duty rating and auto thermal protection reduce downtime compared to motors without those safeguards.
The motor requires a 115V AC supply capable of 4.2 amps at high speed and 3.3 amps at low speed on a 60 Hz circuit. A 1/2 inch diameter shaft extending 3 inches connects to the fan blade hub using a set screw or keyway. Clockwise rotation viewed from the shaft end must match the blade pitch. The 25.98 pound weight needs secure mounting on the pedestal frame. Insulation class B limits ambient temperature to 104 degrees F.

It uses a 48YZ frame with a 1/2 in. diameter shaft that extends 3 in. from the motor face.
Connect the incoming 115 V AC line to the common and the desired speed tap; the internal capacitor stays in circuit for both 100 RPM and 850 RPM settings.
The bearings are lubricated for life; replace the motor only if shaft play, noise, or thermal trips appear during continuous duty at up to 104 °F ambient.
