Pressure Switch 40/60 PSI
The Dayton pressure switch controls water-pump motors in residential and light-commercial systems. It opens and closes the circuit automatically when pressure reaches the factory-set 40/60 psi points. A manual Auto/Off lever lets the user disable the pump for maintenance. The unit is CSA certified and UL listed.
Thermals Noise Power
The switch operates reliably from -22 to 250 degrees Fahrenheit. Its NEMA 1 enclosure is intended for dry indoor locations. Electrical contacts are DPST rated for 1-1/2 hp at 120 V single-phase and 2 hp at 240 V single-phase. No unloader valve is fitted, so the pump stops cleanly at cut-out pressure.
Sustained Load Behaviour
The adjustable differential spans 15 to 50 psi within a 10 to 100 psi range, allowing the installer to match the tank draw-down. Standard action keeps the pump cycling consistently during prolonged demand. The 1/4 inch FNPT port connects directly to common tank tees without adapters.

Questions about this item
How do I wire the 1/4 in FNPT port and the DPST contacts for the 40/60 psi auto/off settings?
Connect the water pump to the 1/4 in FNPT port and wire the DPST contacts to the motor circuit; the switch activates at 40 psi and cuts out at 60 psi per the factory setting.
Which components wear out first and when should I replace the switch?
The internal diaphragm and electrical contacts degrade over time; replace the unit if the cut‑in drifts below 40 psi or the cut‑out exceeds 60 psi.
What is the first limit reached during continuous pumping at 120 V?
The 1 1/2 hp motor rating at 120 V is the first limit; sustained operation above that load will trip the switch or overheat the contacts.
