Product identity

The Dayton round fire damper is a dynamic-rated component for HVAC systems that require a fire resistance rating of less than three hours. It is intended for contractors and facility managers who need a UL-classified damper that can operate with airflow in either direction.

Thermal and power behaviour

The damper activates at 165 degrees Fahrenheit to close automatically during a fire event. In normal operation it adds no electrical load and produces no audible noise because it contains no motor or fan. The galvanized steel construction withstands the rated temperature without deformation.

Included accessories and software

The unit ships as a single damper assembly with no mounting hardware, actuators or control modules. Installation requires separate sleeves, angles and fasteners matched to the ductwork. No software or firmware is involved.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 13-5/8 inch round fire damper in a duct run, and what step is commonly missed?

Mount the 20 ga. galvanized steel damper in the duct opening so the fusible link faces the airstream; the step often missed is verifying the blade swings freely after fastening the sleeve.

What maintenance or replacement will the 165 deg F fusible link need over time?

Inspect the link annually for corrosion or paint overspray; replace it only with a 165 deg F rated link if it has discoloured or after any fire event.

What is the first limit reached under sustained airflow with this dynamic damper rated under 3 hours?

The fire resistance rating of less than 3 hours is the limiting factor; prolonged exposure beyond that duration can compromise the galvanized steel assembly.
