Replacement Fan for ThinkPad T420 Series

This replacement CPU cooling fan fits Lenovo ThinkPad T420 and T420i laptops. It matches part numbers 04W0409, 04W0627 and 0B46252. Each unit is tested before shipping to confirm operation. The package includes one fan ready for installation.

Suitable for T420 Owners Needing a Direct Swap

This part suits owners of a ThinkPad T420 or T420i whose original fan has failed or become noisy. It is not for users of other ThinkPad models or different laptop brands. Buyers who need a cooling pad that sits under the laptop should look at a different accessory type.

Restores Standard Cooling Capacity

The fan restores the original airflow designed for the T420 platform, handling typical workloads for this chassis. It does not increase cooling headroom beyond the factory specification. Systems running sustained heavy loads that exceed the original thermal design may still throttle.

Questions about this item

Will this 04W0409 fan fit my ThinkPad T420 without any extra parts?

Yes, it is a direct replacement for the original cooler in the T420 and T420i; no additional brackets or cables are required.

Can I keep my existing heatsink and just swap the 04W0627 fan assembly?

The unit ships as a complete cooler assembly, so you replace the whole module rather than only the fan blade.

How do I verify the 0B46252 cooler is working correctly after installation?

Power on the laptop, listen for steady airflow from the vent, and confirm the system temperature stays stable under load.
