HP 17-cn Series GPU Cooling Fan

This replacement GPU cooling fan fits HP 17-cn1009cy, 17-cn1020nr, 17-cn1053cl and 17-cn1063cl laptops. It is intended for owners of those specific models who need to replace a worn or noisy graphics processor fan. The part restores targeted airflow to the GPU heatsink. Buyers with other HP 17-inch models or different series should not order this fan.

Single Fan Unit in Package

The box contains one cooling fan and no additional hardware, thermal paste or mounting screws. You must reuse the original fasteners and apply fresh thermal compound yourself. The lack of included screws or paste means you need those supplies on hand before starting the repair. Photographs show the exact item you will receive for visual verification.

Direct Swap Installation

Installation is a direct swap once the laptop is disassembled to reach the GPU heatsink. Each unit is tested before shipping, but compatibility depends on matching the part to the listed model numbers exactly. Common issues arise when buyers order without confirming their specific model against the supported list. Check the photos and your model number carefully before purchasing.

Questions about this item

Will the GPU cooling fan for my HP 17-cn1009cy need bearing lubrication or full replacement after extended use?

The fan is a mechanical component; bearings can wear over time. If noise increases or speeds drop, replacing the whole fan unit is the standard repair.

What thermal limit stops the fan from cooling the GPU indefinitely during heavy loads?

The fan moves air across the heatsink, but GPU temperature is capped by the laptop's own firmware thermal throttle point.

How much extra noise and heat does the replacement fan add when the laptop runs all day?

A correctly matched fan runs at the speeds the motherboard requests, so acoustics and case temperature stay at the design level for this HP 17 series.
