Lenovo T61 CPU Replacement Fan

This DBTLAP cooler replaces the original CPU fan in Lenovo T61 and T61P laptops using part numbers MCF-217PAM05, 42W2461 or 42W2460. It connects via a 3-pin header and is supplied as a single tested unit. The fan is intended for owners repairing thermal issues on these specific models.

Upgrade From a Failed or Noisy Stock Fan

The jump is worth it when the original cooler has seized, rattles or no longer spins at full speed, causing throttling or shutdowns. A direct-fit replacement restores the factory cooling curve without modification. Each unit is tested before dispatch to confirm 100 percent operation.

Suits DIY Repairers With Verified Part Numbers

Buyers who cannot match the MCF-217PAM05, 42W2461 or 42W2460 codes to their existing fan should look elsewhere, as will those needing a complete heatsink assembly rather than the fan alone. The package contains only the cooler; thermal compound and tools are not included.

Questions about this item

Will this 3-pin MCF-217PAM05 fan fit the heatsink mounting points on a Lenovo T61 or T61P?

The fan is built to the MCF-217PAM05 form factor used on Lenovo T61 and T61P models; the 3-pin connector and screw hole pattern match the original assembly.

What is the correct way to seat the 3-pin connector on the motherboard header during installation?

Align the keyed 3-pin plug with the CPU fan header on the T61 motherboard and press straight down until the latch clicks; do not force it at an angle or the pins can bend.

How often should the replacement fan be cleaned to keep airflow steady on a T61?

Blow compressed air through the intake and exhaust vents every few months; if bearing noise appears after prolonged use, replace the fan unit.
