Direct replacement for ThinkPad T500 T400 W500

This new CPU cooling fan matches part number 42W2460 and fits the listed ThinkPad models. It is intended for owners of those laptops who need to replace a worn or noisy original cooler.

Sustained airflow keeps temperatures stable

Each unit is tested before shipping to confirm 100 percent operation. The fan maintains consistent cooling during extended workloads rather than only short bursts, helping the system avoid thermal throttling over long sessions.

Upgrades a failing original cooler

It replaces the factory fan when bearing noise, reduced airflow or complete failure appears. The jump is worth it when the existing cooler can no longer keep the CPU within safe limits. Buyers who need a different form factor or a multi-fan assembly should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

How loud does the replacement fan run when the ThinkPad T500 is under sustained load?

The fan is produced by Forcecon, ADDA, Sunon or Kipo depending on stock; each unit is tested individually before shipping to confirm it spins correctly and cools the CPU.

What must I already have in the laptop for this 42W2460 cooler to install and operate?

You need a ThinkPad T500, T400 or W500 with the original heatsink mounting points and a working 3-pin or 4-pin fan header on the motherboard.

Will this cooler fit alongside the existing heatsink and motherboard layout in a W500 without modification?

Yes, it matches the 42W2460 part number used in the T500, T400 and W500, so it aligns with the original screw holes and cable routing.
