Custom Molded Earplugs 31 NRR

Decibullz PLG1-BLK earplugs are custom moulded hearing protectors designed for shooters, industrial workers, musicians and anyone needing a personal fit. The thermoplastic molds are shaped at home using boiling water to match the exact contour of each ear canal.

Practical limits of passive attenuation

A Noise Reduction Rating of 31 indicates strong broadband attenuation but actual protection varies with fit quality and the frequency spectrum of the noise source. Impulse sounds such as gunfire may exceed the rated reduction and low-frequency rumble is less affected than mid-range tones.

Build quality and daily use implications

Made in the USA from reusable thermoplastic material, the earplugs can be reheated and remoulded multiple times if the initial fit is imperfect. The package includes three sizes of triple-flange tips, a set of medium foam tips and a branded carrying pouch for storage and transport.

Questions about this item

Which tip size should I start with for the best custom fit?

The package includes three sets of triple-flange tips in small, medium and large so you can test each size before molding the thermoplastic shells.

What does the 31 NRR rating mean for actual noise reduction?

A 31 NRR rating indicates the earplugs can reduce incoming sound by approximately 31 decibels when the custom molds are properly fitted and seated.

How does the thermoplastic molding process work and can I redo it?

Heat the molds in boiling water, cool briefly, then press into your ears; they harden to your exact ear shape and can be reheated and reshaped as many times as needed.
