17-Foot #8-AWG CCA Power Runs

The 17-foot red power wire and 3-foot black ground wire use #8-AWG copper-clad aluminium rated for 80 amps with the supplied fuse. This gauge handles typical mid-power amplifiers but reaches its limit on very large multi-kilowatt systems. The #16-AWG speaker wire and #18-AWG turn-on lead cover normal runs to doors and dash.

CCA Conductor Practical Limits

Copper-clad aluminium carries less current than solid copper of the same gauge, so voltage drop appears sooner on long runs. The 80-amp fuse protects the #8-AWG power wire but leaves no headroom for amplifiers that draw more continuously. Installers needing higher current or lower loss should choose a larger gauge or solid copper wire.
