  • 146 GB capacity stores operating system and critical data

  • SAS interface delivers dual-port reliability for server workloads
  • 16 MB cache buffers bursts for smoother I/O throughput
  • 5 inch form factor fits standard enterprise drive bays

Purpose-built enterprise storage

This DELL 0XK111 drive provides 146 GB of capacity in a 3.5 inch form factor. It spins at 15000 RPM with a 16 MB cache and uses a SAS interface rated at 3 Gbps. The unit ships with a mounting tray for direct installation in compatible bays.

Suited for legacy SAS arrays

It fits servers and storage enclosures that accept 3.5 inch SAS drives and require the 15K spindle speed for transaction-heavy workloads. Builders needing SATA-only connectivity or larger capacities should look at other drives. Systems without a SAS backplane or HBA cannot use this device.

The 15000 RPM spindle speed

This rotation rate determines the drive's random-access latency and sustained throughput profile. Verify that your controller and backplane support 3 Gbps SAS before purchase. The 146 GB capacity and 16 MB cache are fixed by the model.

Questions about this item

Does the 3.5 inch SAS drive include a mounting tray for a Dell server bay?

The supplier title lists the drive with a tray, so the 3.5 inch unit ships with the carrier needed for a Dell hot-swap bay.

What is the correct SAS backplane speed setting for the 3 Gbps interface on this 15000 RPM drive?

Connect the drive to a 3 Gbps SAS backplane port; the controller will negotiate the link speed automatically during POST.

When should the 146 GB 15000 RPM drive be replaced in a RAID array?

Replace the drive when the SMART reallocated sector count rises or the array controller flags a predictive failure alert.
