Replacement LCD Back Cover

This genuine Dell part replaces the damaged lid on Inspiron B120, B130, 1300 and Latitude 120L notebooks. The 14.1 inch panel ships new and includes the plastic back, both hinges, the latch mechanism and the wireless antenna cable. Dell part numbers MD542 and HG481 confirm the correct fit for these models.

Suitable repair scenarios

Technicians restoring a cracked or loose lid on the listed Dell laptops will find every mounting point and cable route matched. Owners of other Inspiron or Latitude series, or any non-Dell notebook, must source a different cover because the hinge geometry and antenna routing are model specific.

Critical fit specification

The Dell part numbers MD542 and HG481 are the only identifiers that guarantee compatibility with the four supported models. Verify the number on the original lid before ordering; a mismatch means the hinges, latch or antenna cable will not align.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the 14.1" LCD back cover fits correctly after installation?

The panel should align flush with the chassis, the hinges must rotate smoothly without binding, the latch should engage securely, and the wireless antenna cable must connect to the Wi-Fi card without strain.

Which components are included with the MD542 back cover and what must be sourced separately?

The package supplies the back plastic, both hinges, the latch mechanism and the wireless antenna cable; you will need to provide the LCD panel, inverter, bezel, screws and any internal brackets yourself.

Which Dell part number matches my laptop — MD542 or HG481?

Both numbers refer to the same 14.1" back cover for the Inspiron B120, B130, 1300 and Latitude 120L; choose the one printed on your original cover or listed in your service manual.
