Latitude 5400 for business users

This refurbished Dell Latitude 5400 targets professionals who need a portable Windows 11 Pro machine with a 13.9-inch FHD touchscreen. The Intel Core i5-8365U processor and 32GB of memory support typical office workloads and light creative tasks. A 512GB NVMe SSD provides the primary storage. Cosmetic wear is present but does not affect function.

Sustained workload behaviour

The i5-8365U runs at a 1.60GHz base frequency and manages heat within the slim chassis during extended multitasking. With 32GB of RAM the system keeps virtual machines and large document sets resident without heavy paging. The NVMe drive maintains consistent read and write speeds across long file transfers. Fan noise rises under continuous load but stays within normal business-laptop limits.

Installation notes and common issues

The laptop arrives with Windows 11 Pro pre-installed and an AC adapter included, so initial setup is limited to user account creation and driver updates. Grade B cosmetic condition means scratches, dents or minor cracks on the lid or palm rest are expected; inspect the hinge area for stiffness. The SmartCard reader and fingerprint sensor require Windows Hello enrolment before first use. No optical drive is fitted.

Questions about this item

How much heat and fan noise does the Intel Core i5-8365U generate during all-day use?

The 1.60 GHz base clock and low-power design keep thermals moderate; the system stays quiet during typical office workloads and ramps fans only under sustained heavy compute.

Which peripherals or docks must I already own to connect external displays?

The laptop provides standard video outputs compatible with common monitors; an existing HDMI or DisplayPort cable and a USB-A hub cover most desk setups.

Will my older SATA SSDs work alongside the 512GB NVMe drive inside this unit?

The internal slot is NVMe only, but the USB ports accept external SATA enclosures so legacy drives remain usable for data transfer.
